Oven Roasted Pork Rib with Dry Spices (香料烤排骨)
香料烤排骨 (Xiang Liao Kao Pai Gu)
I have been experimenting more roasted meat recipes recently. Simple reasons: the texture and flavor of the meat can be superb, and it does not require much active work other than sprinkling spices, placing the meat into the oven, which can be easily done within 10 minutes.
This roasted pork rib recipe can be a great mid week meat dish to feed a hungry family.
The spices used in this recipe are very basic and tend to be kids friendly. You can add chili pepper if you prefer more heat.
The ribs used can be spare ribs, baby back ribs,or other style of ribs.

Ingredients
- 3 lb. pork rib
- 3 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoon salt
Cooking Time: 45-60minutes
Servings: 4
Cooking Steps
1. Get 3 lb. pork ribs, cut into 2 portions to fit in a baking tray. Rinse off blood.
2. Place a alum sheet on a shallow baking tray, place the pork ribs onto the alum sheet.
3. Mix all the spices evenly. Sprinkle evenly on both sides of the pork ribs.
Tip: Sprinkle 3/4 portion of the spices onto the meaty side of the pork rib to let the meaty side have stronger flavor.
4. Place the pork rib meaty side on top. Put the tray inside oven, turn temperature to 375 F, bake for 45 to 60 minutes or until the meat is fully cooked.
Tip:
- Baking the pork rib for 45 minutes will most likely fully cook the meat, however adjust the time depending on the actual weight of the meat.
- Baking for 1 hour will add an extra crispy crust to the meat. Watch out the extra 10-15 minutes to avoid burning the meat.
